Removing nofollow from comments’ links
Due to the large number of spam appearing in comments, Wordpress designers added the nofollow attribute by default (look at http://www.webrankinfo.com/actualites/200501-nofollow.htm for example) in comments’ links, in order to ask Google not to follow those links anymore, therefore discouraging spammers.
In fact spammers expect Google’s scan of our pages, and the consequent follow-up of their link, to improve their referencing.
But hey, antispams are more efficient nowadays and it seems that even Google is starting to follow these links again, in spite of nofollow.
Trackback
Trackbacks are articles that you post on YOUR site/blog that answer an article on another blog via the trackback url. The consequence for that other site is similar to receiving a new comment. This “remote comment’s” advantage is that your readers and the other blog’s will be able to see what you have written.
